JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT

Toowoon Bay Surf Life Saving Club are very proud of their Junior Development Programs. We are extremely fortunate to have a talented and hard working group of Seniors and Parents who spend countless hours directing these programs.

The Nippers under the guidance of Graeme Eager (Manager of Youth Services) and Greg McMahon (Manager of Administration Youth Services) run innovative programs that the 350 plus Nippers and parents enjoy on Sunday mornings. Many of our Nippers, who have experienced success at Nipper Carnivals, use the skills they have developed from these programs. More importantly they enjoy developing these skills and are on their way to becoming future competent lifesavers to patrol our beaches.

The Rookie Program is proving hugely successful. Many 15 year olds, on graduating from Nippers, are being retained at Toowoon Bay SLSC in this Program. Rookies experience all aspects of Surf Club life, from assisting in a limited way on Beach Patrols to fund raising and preparing surf club events. Rookies at Toowoon Bay SLSC are involved in other programs such as the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, under the guidance of Fiona Wotton, in the past season gained numerous Bronze Awards. Preparations for this excellent program are well under way for the current season.

The Beach Development Program, under Coach Chris McCormick, is a new program offered to all Club members. The program is very popular with Nippers, Cadets and Rookies. The Program has already tasted success in the current season with outstanding results in relays and individual events at local Carnivals.
